Here’s a step-by-step guide to transfer a registered domain name from a GoDaddy domain account to a new user:

Prepare for the transfer: Before initiating the transfer, ensure that the domain is eligible for transfer. It should be at least 60 days old, not recently renewed or transferred, and not involved in a dispute or locked by the current registrar.

Unlock the domain: Log in to your GoDaddy account and navigate to the Domain Manager. Find the domain you want to transfer and make sure it is unlocked. If it’s locked, you’ll need to unlock it to proceed with the transfer.

Disable WHOIS privacy: If you have WHOIS privacy enabled for the domain, you should temporarily disable it. This allows the new owner to receive important transfer-related emails during the process.

Obtain the authorization code: Obtain the domain’s authorization code (also known as an EPP code or transfer key) from GoDaddy. You can typically find it in the Domain Manager. If you can’t locate it, contact GoDaddy’s customer support for assistance.

Provide the authorization code to the new owner: Share the authorization code with the new domain owner. This code is essential for them to initiate the transfer on their end.

New owner initiates the transfer: The new owner should sign up with their preferred domain registrar and initiate the transfer process. They will need to provide the domain name, enter the authorization code you provided, and complete any required information on their registrar’s transfer request form.

Confirm the transfer request: As the current domain owner, you will receive an email notification from GoDaddy about the transfer request. Follow the instructions in the email to confirm or approve the transfer. This step ensures that you acknowledge the transfer and authorize it to proceed.

Verify the transfer completion: Once the transfer request is approved, the new domain registrar will handle the transfer process. It usually takes a few days for the transfer to complete, although the duration may vary depending on the registrars involved. Once the transfer is successful, you and the new domain owner will receive notifications confirming the completion.

Update domain settings: After the transfer is complete, the new owner should update the domain’s settings, such as nameservers and DNS records, with their preferred registrar.

Note that some registrars may have slightly different procedures for domain transfers, but the general steps outlined above should provide a good starting point. It’s always recommended to review the documentation and support resources provided by the specific registrar involved in the transfer process.
